The list below is of self declared working members.

They are all full members of the BHL who have not applied for or been approved for the Professional Register of the BHL by the Committee.

It is the responsibilty of anyone commissioning work from this list to ensure that the work, qualifications, insurance and equipment are what is required.

The BHL is unable to comment on the competence of those listed and their inclusion in this list does not imply any recommendation by the BHL. We suggest asking for references or to see examples of recent work.

Persons using this list must must make their own judgement as to the ability and experience of those listed.

Working with a Clydesdale gelding, highland cob cross mare, a range of equipment and NPTC qualified chainsaw operators.
On site portable sawmilling facility available for selected larger pieces of value which would be difficult to extract.
Training available in first aid, chainsaw operation and use of winches in forestry operations as well as a range of other agricultural and forestry related skills

Ken is himself a qualified first aid trainer and winch instructor and well as holding a range of NPTC chainsaw qualifications, NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety, Risk Assessment qualifications and is also a 4x4 and B+E trailer trainer. An experienced forestry worker and horse handler he and his team have combined their skills to provide a first class and professional felling, thinning and timber extraction service - especially suited to amenity woodland, smaller woods and estate woodland areas.

All our jobs carry a full written risk assessment and emergency planning documentation and are covered by extensive public liability insurance. Our horses are cared for as one of the family and enjoy their work as they are handled by experienced and professional horsemen who encourage and develop ability in the animals and create a deep bond of mutual trust between man and horse.

Hawthorn Heavy Horses - Matt and Claudia Waller.

Working 2 Suffolk Punches in Essex and surrounding counties for forestry and conservation work including demos. Single and Pairs chains, timber arch, braken roller and harrows for forestry, plus gang and hay mowers for meadow management. £5m public/products liability, plus £10m employers liability.

Matt has a BSc (Hons) in Countryside Management and 7 years experience with Conservation Charities and local authorities. 10 years horse handling experience plus CS30/31 chainsaw passed 2006 refreshed 2009. Current First Aid at Work.

Claudia has a BSc (Hons) in Equine Studies, 20 years horse experience with 7 years experience working with and driving Heavy Horses. Current First Aid at Work.

Current clients include Chelmsford Borough Council, the Forestry Commission, the Corporation of London, Harlow District Council, and Basildon District Council.
