20 year old cob gelding, Oscar. I am looking for a good home for Oscar due to health, land and family reasons. I’m looking for somewhere he could go into semi-retirement, with some light work activity. I’ve had Oscar for 12 years and we’ve done alot together. He is lovely to work with, calm helpful and understanding, although he can be a little impatient (he’s not perfect!). He’s done logging, carting, harrowing, basically pulling anything you put behind him. He’s fine with traffic and he’s been ridden and driven by lots of people including complete novices and kids. He comes with harness, saddle, swingle tree etc. He lives out all year, no rugs, although I think he might benefit from a dryer climate than north west Scotland.
Unfortunately Oscar suffers from lymphodema (CPL), which seems to be stable at the moment but he needs part of his feathers kept short and washed about twice a week. It doesn’t seem to affect his working and he is still fine pulling wagons etc, although he is slowing down a bit.
I’m very fond of Oscar so I hope I can find the right place for him.
